Nicki Kris Music

Singer-songwriter Nicki Kris bio

Pop diva singer / songwriter Nicki Kris began her music career in 2011 with the release of her first single, My Christmas Wish, which was followed by her debut album release, the soul-laced I Come Alive in 2013 (the 10th Anniversary Edition is out now for 2023!). Both releases went on to achieve radio success, and several tracks from I Come Alive made the first round ballot for the GRAMMY® Awards, and were featured in TV shows such as Lifetime’s Dance Moms (Beautiful, Together We Stand, We Go On). Nicki was instantly recognized as a powerful singer with the chops to compete with the best in the business, along with being reviewed as a songwriter-on-the-rise.

Nicki followed up her debut with 2014’s
Dream Big, an Americana / country influenced EP. The songs from Dream Big received radio play worldwide, and were again featured in TV shows and songwriting contests globally. Nicki once again made the first round ballot for the GRAMMY® Awards with her performances and compositions, further solidifying her rise as a powerful contemporary singer / songwriter.

Following the release of her EP, Nicki released several singles, starting with the closing credits song
Picture Yourself (her first electronic-influenced track), from the award-winning film Mother by ASD Media & Entertainment in early 2015. This was followed that same year by You’ve Got A Hold On Me, a song inspired by the 50 Shades of Grey series. Between these two singles, Nicki garnered almost a 1/2 million Soundcloud plays, outperforming multi-platinum artists who launched their albums that same year.

In mid-2016, Nicki released Falling To Pieces, a song written to mourn the victims of the tragedy at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. It also served as a warning to the shooter that his actions won’t break us, tear us down, or make us “fall to pieces.” All proceeds from the iTunes sales of Falling To Pieces were donated to the OneOrlando Fund. Their quote, “This tragedy will not define us, but will bring us closer together” perfectly underscored the meaning of Falling To Pieces.

In June of 2017, Nicki released Captain America, a patriotic anthemic pop/rock song that asked each of us to find our inner superhero. We are all or can be “Captain America” in our daily lives. We can be kind, we can be courageous, we can be inclusive, we can aid the weak, help those less fortunate, we can be tolerant, we can accept, we can fight for equality, we can denounce hate, we can help one another, we can support human rights, we can forgive, and most importantly we can love. Using our voices, our votes, our rights afforded to us by the founding members of this country, all of us together can make a difference. One voice may not be heard, but millions together will not be silenced.

Captain America was followed up in 2018 with Nicki’s new single,
Heartbeat, which served as a “sequel” of sorts to the previous song. It was based around the continuous 24-hour-a-day turmoil surrounding the current US Commander-In-Chief, and despite its moody, dark vibe it served as an uplifting warning: “You are not winning the war, ‘cause I can take this and more, and I will make this right again.” Heartbeat became the title track to Nicki’s next album by the same name, which was completed in late 2018, and launched to the world in early 2019.

Heartbeat contains 14 songs co-written with Nicki’s producer / engineer Kevin McNoldy (Dave Matthews, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sissy Spacek, Parachute), which includes remixes of Picture Yourself, You’ve Got A Hold On Me, Falling To Pieces, and Captain America. These early singles earned well over one million Soundcloud streams even before the launch of the full album, which is an impressive feat for any artist, let alone an independent one.

Nicki’s single release for 2020, Is This Love feat. Kitt Wakeley, puts Nicki back in the producer chair along with long time collaborator Kevin McNoldy. The Power Pop love song embodies the lyrical and vocal excellence that Nicki’s fans and critics have come to expect.

Nicki recently launched her first single for 2021,
Undone. Co-written with her long-time producer Kevin McNoldy, Undone is inspired by the romantic, sweeping Bond themes. The official press release can be found here.

New for 2023: Nicki has launched a remixed and remastered edition of her debut album. I Come Alive 10th Anniversary Edition is out now on all digital platforms! The press release can be found here.

Nicki has also made the first round ballot for the GRAMMY® Awards for eight years in a row, as well as winning several international songwriter / performance awards for her music.
