Pop diva singer / songwriter Nicki Kris began her music career in 2013 with the release of her first single, My Christmas Wish, which was followed by her debut album release, the soul-laced I Come Alive. Both releases went on to achieve radio success, and several tracks from I Come Alive made the final ballot for the Grammy Awards, and were featured in TV shows such as Lifetime’s Dance Moms (Nicki’s single Beautiful is now featured on their live tour, as well). Nicki was instantly recognized as a powerful singer with the chops to compete with the best in the business, along with being reviewed as a songwriter-on-the-rise.
Nicki followed up her debut with 2014’s Dream Big, an Americana / country influenced EP. The songs from Dream Big received radio play worldwide, and were again featured in TV shows and songwriting contests globally. Nicki once again made the final ballot for the Grammy Awards with her performances and compositions, further solidifying her rise as a powerful contemporary singer / songwriter.
Nicki’s next foray was into the electronic field, first with the 2015 single Picture Yourself, which became the featured song from the award-winning film Mother by ASD Media & Entertainment. This was followed by You’ve Got A Hold On Me, a song inspired by the 50 Shades of Grey series. Between these two singles, Nicki has garnered almost a 1/2 million Soundcloud plays so far, outperforming multi-platinum artists who launched their albums in 2015 / 2016!
Nicki’s second single for 2016 was Falling To Pieces, a song written to mourn the victims of the tragedy at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. It also serves as a warning to the shooter that his actions won’t break us, tear us down, or make us “fall to pieces.” All proceeds from the iTunes sales of Falling to Pieces were donated to the OneOrlando Fund. Their quote, “This tragedy will not define us, but will bring us closer together” perfectly underscores the meaning of Falling to Pieces.
Nicki’s first single for 2017, Captain America, was a patriotic anthemic pop/rock song that asks each of us to find our inner superhero. We are all or can be “Captain America” in our daily lives. We can be kind, we can be courageous, we can be inclusive, we can aid the weak, help those less fortunate, we can be tolerant, we can accept, we can fight for equality, we can denounce hate, we can help one another, we can support human rights, we can forgive, and most importantly we can love. Using our voices, our votes, our rights afforded to us by the founding members of this country, all of us together can make a difference. One voice may not be heard, but millions together will not be silenced.
Captain America has been followed up in 2018 with Nicki’s new single, Heartbeat, which serves as a “sequel” of sorts to the previous song. It’s based around the continuous 24-hour-a-day turmoil surrounding the current US Commander-In-Chief, and despite its moody, dark vibe it serves as an uplifting warning: “You are not winning the war, ‘cause I can take this and more, and I will make this right again.” Heartbeat is the title track to Nicki’s next album, due later in 2018… stay tuned!
Nicki’s future looks bright… there is more music on the way in 2018, as well as live performances, and she has made the final ballot for the Grammy Awards for the fifth year in a row!
